) DAILY REPUBLICANSaturday, November 25,1978Firm Recalls FireNAPA Has Auto PartslfSunday will be the tenth anniversary of the day Temple s Auto Service, Taff s Colonial Store, Askren Monuments, and NAPA Automotive Supply were destroyed by fire “That day, Tuesday, November 26, 1%8.” according to Tom Buckley, owner of NAPA Automotive Supply, “started out to be a routine day, but it ended up to be the most disheartening day ofmv life*■“At 9:30 a m.,“ he continued “a policeman looked in the front door of my shop and told me there was a big fire in the back of my building. I immediately removed my card file and cash register. In less than an hour and a half, the half block area of buildings was in rubble.“While the building was still smoking. I call my NAPA representative. They came down from Indianapolis to look at the situation. They arrivedwwithin an hour.“By Monday,” continued Buckley, “they had contacted the manufacturers, ordered new merchandise, and had delivered it to Rushville in cars and U-haul trucks.Meanwhile, the city council and Mayor Gibson of Kushville called a meeting and agreed to let Buckley use the building across the street from where the tire department now stands.By Tuesday morning, a new automotive parts store was in full operation, Four and a half months passed before NAPA was moved to its present location at 122 South Perkins.Speaking of helping.
