Welsh, who were married fifty years ago on November 8, observed their *old*»n wedding anniversary onSunday November 7, beginnin with alt;pecial Mass at St. Michael s church in Holbrook, a dinner for sixty guests at noon and open housethe afternoon.Miss Mary Spratt, daughter of the late Michael and Ann SPra« of Holbrook became the bride of Mr. James B. Welsh, son of the late Michael and Ann Welsh' of Cos-grove, on November 8, 1883 in St. Michaels Church at Holbrook with the late Rev, Father King officiating. They were attended by Kathryn Bradley, now deceased andJames Beecher who now resides atWest Branch, Iowa,After their marriage the couple made their home on a farm near Tiffin until 1899, then they moved to the farm where they now reside. They have lived here ever since, j excepting one winter spent in Car-'• * ____JJlesbed, New Mexico, and threeyears Which were spent in Oxford where Mr. Welsh operated a meat market.Mr. and Mrs. Welsh were the par- *. ents of eight children; three dying in infancy and the five living were with their parents for the observance. They, are; William Welsh, Kegina Welsh, and Mrs. Irvin L. Hier of Iowa City. Mrs. Florence Welsh and Tom E. Welsh of Williamsburg. There are five grand children; Mary, John and James Welsh of Williamsburg, and Lorraine and Raymond Welsh of Iowa City.4The serving tables were decor ated with gold and white bouquets j of chrysanthemums which were sent by the couples’ nieces and nephews of Pender, Nebraska and a teired wedding cake baked bytheir daughter, Regina. Mr, Welshwore . a rose buttoniere and Mrs. a yellow rose corsage which were presented by the family.The afternoon was spent in card games and' visiting after which the couple opened their many gifts. Mr. Vernon Brogla presented a number of vocal selections.Among those present were the Rev. John Manning, Mr. and Mrs. M Spratt and family; Mr .and Mrs. M. H. Spratt and' family; Mrs. Florence Welsh and family; Mr. and drs. Tom E. Welsh1; Miss Mary Jriffin; Mrs. T. F.
