Davis and Leffert both ;nded second in the sectional.Returning for their last season are a pair of NCC champions, Howard' DePoy and Jerry Davis, who’ll both be wrestling in the weight classes that gave them their titles.DAVIS won 13 of 19 matches last season and will be starting ruesday at Frankfort in the 120-pound class. DePoy, 18-4 last year, will perform in the 112-pound class.Other veterans returning for more action are Ron Howard in the 127-pound division; Don Howard, 138, and Mike Paul,165. The remaining weights will be filled by first-year varsitycompetitors,RON HOWARD finished last year with a sterling 18-3 record including a second-place sectional finish and second in the conference.Brother Don Howard ended with an identical 18-3 record which included a sectional championship, second place finish in the conference and third in the regional.Paul finished 4-13 in his first year on the varsity. With the inexperience to work with, Patacsil has been stressing the basic moves of the sport, but “as the season progresses we’ll work on more advanced maneuvers. We’ll analyze each match and figure what we need to work on from there,” he says.PATACSIL Is not overly optimistic about the first portion of the season, but sees a blighter light when the new year turns. “We don’t think we’re going to Win too many matches before Christmas,” he says, but “after the first week in January—after the North Central tournament— we should start.patacsil Is expecting the first meet of the season to give him a little better Idea about his teams potential, and indicated that a few changes in the starting alignment could be expected.Patacsil has a system for selecting the wrestlers to compete in varsity matches based on challenge rounds. If any of the junior varsity wrestlers feel they can defeat the varsity wrestlers they are given ar. opportunity in a challengeround. If the JV wrestler winsthe match, he then takes over the varsity slot until he is defeated in a challenge match.“For the first match we’ll be about the same as we were last vear,” he said. “We’ll be in-SCHEDULENov. 25 At Frankfort Dec. 4 At Kokomo Haworth (AB)5 Twin Lakes (AB)10 Kokomo (AB)12 At Lafayette Jeff14 Tourney at Loganspoit 18 At Marlon (AB)Jan. 7 Crawfordsville11 (B) Tourney at Kokomo 11 (A) Tourney at N. Battling for the slot are Collier Berkshire and Greg Isaacs, “both of whom could develop with a little experience,” the head coach commented. The opener will see Phil Brugh In the 193-pound position, Brugh is a first year varsity grappler who Patacsil terms, promising.”The 133-pound class will behandled by Bob Bernhardt. He constructed an impressive Junior varsity record last year going undefeated in eight matches in the 112 and 120-pound classes.Other first-year varsity competitors expected to be on the rolls at Frankfort Include Roy Decker, 145; Jay Bolen, 154; Bob Cole, 175 and Tony Donato, heavyweight. Donato competed in three varsity matches last year, and lost all three.Patacsil lists two other top contenders for starting berths this year. They are Roger Wallace and Pat Brewer. Brewer performed in 14 varsity events last season, and ended with a 5-9 record.LOGANSPORT wasn’t supposed to win the conference championship last year, and although Patacsil won’t go as faras saying he’ll have another team victory, he feels that he has a few individuals who’ll do well in the tournament.“We’d like to win the NCC,” he said, “hut it depends on how much strength we have when we get there. We feel we have five who could do well. We also feel we have a good opportunity to take a few to the state meet this year If all goes well.” Wrestling has steadily progressed in participation at Lo-gansport High School, and Patacsil gives assistant coach Ron Shoemaker a lot of credit for the recruiting.acmire:CoanPrdedrinOfofarthncrePtsedchlt;ccaG:WHY NOT J0494 Ylt; ♦N THf WARM, SURROUND*!MYERS2100 Royal Center PikeSCOTCH DOUBLESOPEN BODARY 10:00 a. m.
