McWilliams, Exeter, celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary yesterday when their daughters arrived unexpectedly with a special cake and gifts. ' • .Mrs. McWilliams was bom in Lawrence but came to Exeter when she was a little girl with her mother and lather, John and Abbie Button. They lived on Union street for many i years.Mr. McWilliams comes from a large family at Prince Edward Is-' lands. About 43 years ago he moved to Exeter. After holding various position in the town, he was employed at the But:on bakery owned by Mrs. McWilliams’ father.Mr. McWilliams became a driver for the M M bakery in Dover in 1914, when the organization was founded and ever since has been working for the concern in Exeter.Mrs. McWilliams is one of four sisters. The others arc Mrs. Ernest Templeton, Exeter: Mrs. David Smith. Rollinsford: Mrs. Ruth-Brackett/ Portsmouth. She is a member of Daughters of the American Revolution, was state treasurer in 1940; also is treasurer of the Moses N. Collins Women’s Relief corps.Mr. and Mrs. McWilliams have six children, Russell, Kenneth, Marion (Mrs. Hugh Rogers), Margaret (Mrs. Herbert Allard), Marjorie (Mrs. Charles Knight), and Barbara (Mrs. Henry Cail), all of Exeter.As they celebrate their fortieth anniversary, Mr. and Mrs. McWilliams are just getting settled in their new home at 47 Columbus avenue.
