Tiedemann retires from school boardA long-time member of the Boyden-Hull Community School District Board of Education has announced his retirement from the board. Ferdinand Tiedemann, Route 1, Hull, retires this month from the board.Tiedemann has served on the board after 14 years and 4 months. His term is not due to expire until next September. The reason he is retiring early, Tiedemann explains, is that his family has all moved out of the school district.'’I feel one serving on the board should have children going to school in the district, Tiedemann says.Tiedemann, who farms five miles north and three and one-half miles east of Hull, had four children in school all the time he served on the board, except the last three years. The veteran board member, who started serving the year after the addition to the school was built in the early 1960's, has been elected to the board for five consecutive three-year terms. The five-member board of education will have to appoint someone to fill the vacancy created by Tiedemann's retirement from the board.Tiedemann expressed his appreciation to all who have worked with him and supported him while a board member. I can only say I have enjoyed all of our meetings that we had, Tiedemann said, I really meanthat. In the short time I've been here, I've found that Mr. Tiedemann has had the sincere interest of the students of the district in mind, Dave Curry, superintendent of the Boyden-Hull district, said of Tiedemann's service on the board. The other board members have respected Tiedemann's thoughts, Curry continued. His presence on the board will be missed. The next regular meeting of the board is Dec. 8 and a replacement for Tiedemann might be selected at that time, Curry said.
