Club, Nov.26.Grimm will be assistant hostesskRichard Recher to be feted for 25 years in ministryuntil 1953 when he went to Grace Lutheran Church, Logansport. In 1957 he accepted a call to Indianapolis where he organized and developed the new congregation, St. Stephen’s, in a crime ridden district.Pastor Recher returned to Camden Dec. 1, 1967, to again serve the parish.A native of Anderson, he attended Walton, Terre Haute and Montmorenci grade schools. He was graduated from Montmorenci High School with honors and received his AB degree from Wittenberg College in 1946. He was active in campus organizations and athletics. He was a member and held offices in Phi Mu Delta fraternity, Lutheran Student Association, Y.M.C.A., Shifters’ Club (honorary) and the Wittenberg Choir.In his senior year he was president of the student council, Boost W ittenberg Club, Pick and Pen .(men’s honorary), and vice president of the college Blue Key National honor fraternity.He was a letterman in varsity athletics, with three years in basketball and one in baseball.While in the seminary he held offices in Hamma Student Association, was for- three years editor of “Hamma Notes”, coached seminary athletics, and was a member of the choir.During his pastorate at Camden the folk service has been introduced with the traditional liturgy. Saturday evening services were a part of the summer and fall schedule.Pastor Recher is publicity and promotion director for CROP and chairman of Released Time Program in the county. He formerly served as president of Carroll County Council of Churches, Carroll County Ministerial Association and Camden Ministerial Association. He was secretary of Lafayette District of IndrKy. Synod.In the 25 years he has officiated at 183 weddings and 131 funerals. He has baptized 332 and received 823 members into the church.Pastor Recher has driven over 350,000 miles in performing hispastoral duties.He was married in 1951 atCamden to the former EvettaGeorge of Camden and they havetwo daughters, Mrs.Vickie Greenof Indianapolis and Dee AnnRecher, at home. His mother,Mrs. Ruth Recher, lives inCamden. He has one brother andfour sisters.He is vice chairman of theCamden Library Board.The Rev. Richard C. Recher, pastor of St. Peters Lutheran Church, Camden, will be honored Sunday, Dec. 1, at the annual church homecoming in observance of his 25 years in the ordained Lutheran ministry.The special service for Pastor Recher will be the “Happiness Is’.’ celebration at 2 pm. when A. Ray Myers, program chairman, will preside. Others on the committee include Mrs. Don McCain, Mrs. Mabel Mullin, Raymond Bieghler, Robert Dittman, Gary Linn, Mrs.Gladys Caldwell and Mrs. Murray Tesh.Church School will be at 9:30 am. with Mr. Bieghler, superintendent, in charge.Dr. Walter M. Wick of Indianapolis, president of the In-diana-Kentucky Synod of the Lutheran Church in America, will be the homilist at the 10:30 am.worship service.Pastor Ralph Kempski of Our Sav or Lutheran Church in West I .yette, Dean of the Lafayette u.strict, will be liturgist.The 15-voice robed choir will sing “God Is Here” under direction of Mrs.Dean Sanderson. Robert Reiffel is organist. A special banner made by Mrs. Daniel Baker for the celebration will be presented to the church.A basket dinner will be served at 12 o’clock noon in the parish hall.Pastor Recher was graduated May 15, 1949, from Hamma Divinity School, Wittenberg University, Springfield, Ohio. He was ordained May 9, 1949, at St. Marks Lutheran Church, Evansville, during the convention of Indiana Synod of the United Lutheran Church in America.His father, Pastor Paul Recher, preached the ordinationsermon.He accepted a call to become Pastor of the Camden Church June 1, 1949, and served there
