I j Fire Department r|To be Organized Tonite in Clermontd ' McKean County’s newest orgaai-■ nation of smoke-eaters,** the Cier-e moiit Volunteer Fire Department, will meet this (Thursday) evening at 8 o'clock.All residents of Clermont and vicinity, who are interested in joining. the-fire department, are cordially invited to attend the session in Clermont tonight, when permanent officers will be elected.*The organization meeting will be ' held In the Clermont Sportsmen's' Club. |Robert Diebler is acting chief of the department and Edward Carlson la assistant chief.The Clermont firemen already have acquired a used truck, formerly the property of one of the John-sonburg fire companies. The truck has no pump, but carries hose, ladders. hand extinguishers and other necessary equipment for fighting fires.Plans call for installation of hydrants, connected with high-press- ; ure pumps in the Clermont plant j of Kaul Clay Products Co,Heretofore, the hilltop community has depended on Smethport and ,, Jewett Fire Departments for I | help in fire emergencies. Smethport is 13 miles from Clermont and Mt. Jewett about the same distance.The new fire department will sponsor a turkey shoot; in Clermont next Sunday to help raise funds for equipment.
