Because this year the Basketball Bears are welcoming back only one senior and letterman, Bob Rinehart. And most of Wadsworth’s hopes will be on his shoulders.»ur rebuilding year is especially bad this time because the Chippewa Conference is full of powerful teams, commented Whitt. “Orrville will be extremely tough, and West Holmes, Cloverleaf and Triway will be awfull strong,tWhitt lost the services of five fine ball-handlers when graduation thinned the ranks. Rusty Wilson and Todd Butt, both of whom were members of theGAZETTE All-County Team, and Bob Kish, Joe Yakubic and Kenny Moore all left behind positions which will be hard to fill.But the head tutor is confident his young roundballers are equal to the task. ’The desire and attitude of the boys is great,” said Whitt. ‘They work well, andMayWadsworth9999performancesour scrimmages.“We will probably have three or four sophomores on the varsity,” confided Whitt. “And possibly a freshmanThe only position on the squad which is definite is the center. Rinehart, who scales in at 6’3”, will see action there. “We’re depending on Rinehart,” stressed the coach.Whitt also pointed to a pair of non-lettermen who looked promising.Iteve Garnik, a junior, has looked good in our scrimmages,” he said. “And Kim Kinsley, a sophomore, is a good prospect for the point.”The Grizzlies will have no drastic changes in their offense and defense, according to the joundball tutor JV1-3-1 offense will be favored by the Bears, while the defense will alternate between a man-to-man and a zone.“We’re going to be spotty and onsistent.” stated Whitt. “And with allthat youth there’ll be mistakes.
