CELEBRATE GOLDEN WEDDING. Cedar Rapids Gazette: iA. goldenwedding which, will bo untinged with sadness because qf the good health and youthful spirits of the man and woman married fifty years ago, will be celebrated Tuesday. Mr. and Mrs. Joseph C. HukilJ, 630 First avenue west, will iiave a family reunion m the morning and In the afternoon and evening will cordially welcome all neighbors and friends who care to call. Mr. and Mrs. Hukil! have lived in Cedar Rapids only a few years, but in that time have made many warm friends, all of whom will lee! an interest in this important anniversary and its appropriate celebration,Joseph C. Hukil! was born in Ohio, June 12, 1835, and his wife, Mary J. Hall, was born in the same state, May 10, 1840. They were married November 19, 1857. They came to Iowa in 1861 and bought land in Iowa count}'. Tn 1892 Mr. and Mrs. Hukill moved to Mt. Piea-sant, Henry county, and four years ago they came to .Cedar Rapids and expect to make this place their permanent home. They have had five children, four sons and one daughter. The youngest son died at the age of 13. The oldest son, Anson T. Hukill,5s a well known educator and is superintendent of the West Waterloo schools. The second son, Aaron L-Hukill, is on the old home farm, and the daughter, Mrs. Edle Hukill Berry, also lives on the farm. The third son, Jtolla C. Hukill, is in Golden, Colo. He is chief cleric and bandmaster in the State Industrial school and at present Is acting superintendent of the school. Mr. and Mrs. Hukill have four grand children—Mrs. Mabel Hukill Popham, Stanley Hukill, Olin Hukill and Alisa Lena Berry. There is also one greatgrandchild, Iva -Mae Popham. This i s a brief outline of a very full, active and useful married life. Mr. and Mrs. Hukill were married fifty years ago on a cold, snowy November day, when the roads were rough and the weather wintry. A Presbyterian minister performed the ceremony at the home of , tbc- bride’s parents and the family and a few Intimate friends composed the -wedding party. The bride wore a . f gown made in the best style of the . • period, h changeable' Iblue and red : I silk, made with triple, bell-shaped ; i sleeves. The ceremony took place at , j 2 o'clock In the afternoon and later -a wedding supper was served. .1 JV I -
