It was a most sumptuous and enjoyable occasion, one hundred invitations- having heen sent out and the majority responding,Tho aged and respected couple were united in marriage at Oakwood, 011 the 17th day of November, 1857, the bride heing Miss Sarah Thy sen, and the miuis-ter who performed the ceremony Was Rev. C. G. Kocsper, Sr_ Mr. Ferber Yf-ps born in Willstadt, Bad ei\j G. etmany, and lie aud his father came to America, landing m( New York in 183f). They cajne over on the same steamer .with John. Hoernel, Sr., . the well., known Sixthi c .j • ' •-*street hardware, merchant. In the. year 1847 Mr. Ferber came west and located'.inf * . Mr, and Mrs. Ferher, of whom four are still living, George,' Albert' and Edna Ferbfer, and Mrs. Charles Garbe. At the welding there were one hundred .and tweji-. ty-five guests present, and 'Rev. II. t-l.i Koch officiated. It may-be stated, as'-a:; remarkable incident, that Mr. George1 ! Hanadel and Mr.'Phillip .Schattner, witnesses at thev wedding fifty years ago,were prcseiit’at thq festive occasion.
