Three Celebrations Held InGolden Wedding Observance]With three celebrations, Mr. and' Mrs, Henry Kappel, R. 1, Waldo, observed their golden wedding anniversary recently.The first took place on Nov, 7 when the children and grandchildren of the couple were entertained at dinner at the Hotel Curtiss in Plymouth, A basket filled with fall blossoms decorated the table. Later in the afternoon the family went to the Kappel home where card games were played and supper served.At the home a recording was made with each member of the family offering congratulations or some word of greeting. Mr. and Mrs. Kappel plan to play the recording at each of their succeeding wedding anniversaries.donation to the Lutheran Hour in their honor.Mr, Kappel was born May 21, 1866, on the homestead in Town Lima. His parents were Peter Kappel and Sophia Ullrich. Four years later on July 17, 1870, just one-half mile up the road, Mrs. Kappel was bom, the daughter of Frederic Roggenbuck and Louisa Zastrow.This couple, and Mr. and Mrs. Peter Kappel were married in a double wedding ceremony on Nov. 11, 1893, with the Rev. Mr. Korbie of the Plank road reading the service. Mr. and Mrs. Peter Kappel, who reside in Milwaukee, also observed their anniversary on Nov. 11.tJt! iOpen House HeldOn the actual day of their anniversary, Thursday, Nov. 11, Mr. and Mrs. Kappel entertained at an open house at their home during the afternoon. Many relatives, friends and neighbors called.The concluding‘celebration took place Sunday afternoon when the Ladies’ Aid society of St. Thomas of Lima church of which Mrs. Kappel as a charter member, surprised them at their home.Following is the program which was presented’ Original poem of the history of the honored couple, Mrs. Wierman, vocal solos, “I Love You Truly and Sweeter As the Years Go By/’ sung by Robert Hansen; tribute and prayer by the Rev. They are Gustave, C. Ph. M., a veteran of the first World war, who is again in the navy and stationed at the Great Lakes Naval hospital; Mrs. Fred (Erna) Jurss of Plymouth; Eugene of Adell; Arthur of Town Lima; Mrs, George (Irene) Hartman of Greenbush; Mrs. John (Nora) Schaum of Milwaukee. Their 10 grandchildren were also presentStill engaged in farming is Mr. Kappel, who is in good health. Mrs. Kappel, who is in fair health, is assisted in her housework by her sister, Minnie Roggenbuck, who makes her home there,Grandchildren who attended the celebration from out of town were: Miss Genevieve Kappe! of Whitewater; Miss Shirley Jurss of Milwaukee, and Miss Vivian Kappel i of Madison.
