BURNEDThe Old Brewery Building in Brewery Hollow.Jfcetroyed by Eire Thursday Evening —Was Erected in 1867 and Used in Making Beer for a Few Years. The old brewery, from which Brewery Hollow derives its name, horned about 8 o'eluck last evening. Thisbuilding was erected about 1867 by Ward Beuchler. Mr. Ward was a gardener and Mr. Beuchlci was a drayman, brother of Henry Beuchler. They conceived the idea that th^o was money to be made in rnaki.fg beer, therefore erected this building. They ran it for about odc year. Then finding out that they bad made a mistake in erecting the brewery o far from water supply, they sold out to Meyer Plagg, who continued to run it for two or three years, when Flagg purchased, the interest of Meyer, Mr. Plagg continued the business for about one year, when he gave it up as a bad investment. They were unable to make a beer that-would compete in quality witb the bsers made elsewhere. Since Mr. Etagg abandoned the works the building has been used as a tenement bouse. The last family moved out yesterday, but possibly bad a few things remaining in the buildiDg. The fire was well advanced when discovered and witb the very limited means of fighting fire, very little could be done toward extinguishing the flames. How it caught is a mvs-tery. It la supposed that some fire had been left in the building, which in some way revived and caused the blaze. Mr. Flagg was the owner and carried an insurance on the building of about seven hundred dollars.
