Hartwell, on the other hand was the team leader.Coach Fred Hobdy’s foremost concern is finding a capable ball handler and team leader. Hobdy seems to think that guards Carl Glenn, 6-3 soph of Milwaukee, Cornell Flournoy, 5-11 freshman of Minden and Izeal Connors, 5-11 freshman of New Orleans, can come through for him. But if the season started today, he would go with Glenn.en Dec.Robert McDaniels, 6-10 soph of New Orleans, and Charles Evans, 6-8 soph from Long Branch, N. J. will share the responsibilities of being the pivot-man. Both lettered last season.Hobdy, as usual, will use a combination type defense and exhibit the fast break-Grambling style. In his 16th year at Grambling, he has compiled a 367-100 record. The Tigers shouldn’t be in too much trouble, for they have Aaron James, and Joe Simpson who can provide both experience and points. James had a field goal percentage of .619, firee-throw percentage of .700, rebound average of 10.9, andscoring average of 19.3, while Simpson supplied a 17.6 scoring average. The TTgers ability to win will be teBted in every game. Because of their schedule, it might be tested two and three times. Namely, University of Washington, St. Johns, Prairie View, Kentucky State and Alcorn. The Huskies have to make up in points what they can’t in size. Washington needs a big man, but will have to get more from Reggie Ball, forward, and Louis Nelson, guard. The Huskies, under Coach Marv Harsman, accumulated a 20-6 record last season and had five starters to return.
