Glenn■WilUamsSays - - -Is That Bullsnake In The House Or Not?Somewhere in the James Geisendorf home at 674 S. 10th there may or may not be a bullsnake.Uncertainty is a difficult thing to live with, particularly when uncertainty is representedby a snake and you're allergic to snakes.James Geisendorf is a man who’s outstandingly allergic to snakes. You can now begin to appreciate the depth of James Ge'sendorf’s problem. He wouldn’t have this problem today if it weren’t for the facts that:1. His son, Jack, is fascinated by snakes.2. His wife takes a relaxed, live-and-let-live attitude toward snakes.Last summer, son, Jack, brought a bullsnake home and put it in a box in his room.Mrs. Geisendorf saw nothing particularly unsettling about this. But Geisendorf did.“Get that snake out of your room and get it out before I come home this evening,” Jimmy told son, Jack. The first thing Jimmy said when he got home that evening was:’Did you get that snake out of your room?” 'Yes”, said son, Jack. And then, afur a ■ suitably theatrical pause, lie added;“I put him in a box in the basement.”Hr Hr HrThe neighbors say fireworks began to erupt from the Geisendorf home just IS seconds later. When the last Roman candle had gone off’ Jimmy armsd himself with a suitable weapon and went to the basement to deal with the snake in mortal combat. The snake wasn’t in the box. It had escapedit'and vanished. It has stayed vanished ever since, despite several top-to-bottom-of-thc-house safaris conducted by James Giisendorf. There are days when Jimmy thinks the snake isn’t in the house and probably hasn't been since the day it escaped from the box in the basement. And then there are other days when Jimmy thinks it probably is in the house. On these latter days, Jimmy is inclined to opine gloomily:It probably is just in hibernation and it will emerge from some crevice or cranny next Spring with a whole family of little snakes. As has been said before, uncertainty is a difficult thing to live with.Hr Ht ★On the other hand, it can be cheerily reported that James Geisendorf‘s luck with mice is much better. The other day, Jimmy was snoozing when a screech by his daughter, Judy, aroused him.He dashed into the living room and there was daughter, Judy, sitting in a chair and there in an ash tray about Hi feet away from Judy was a mouse. The mouse was giving Judy the eye, and, since Judy is a beautiful-type girl, that wasn’t surprising.Jimmy grabbed a niblick and clouted themouse behind the left ear.The mouse hasn’t brcn the same since.Judy says it was the best niblick shot Old Dad has ever made on or off the golf course. On the other hand, there’s that bullsnake. Is it in the house or isn't it?
