There are6 grandchildren.Dr. Spooner served as minister of Methodist churches for nearly 47 years. He served pastorates in Valentine, Scottsbluff, Kearney and Tecumseh-Johnson and served as district superintendent of both the Lincoln and Kearney districts. He also served on the boards of Nebraska Wesleyan UniverHoy N. Spoonerssity, Bryan Memorial Hospital. West Nebraska General Hospital at Scottsbluff, Omaha Methodist Hospital and Wesley Foundation.He received his Doctor of Divinity degree from Nebraska Wesleyan University in 1932.The Spooners have lived in Lincoln since their retirement in June, 1957.
