Baker Sr. and wife feted on 50th anniversaryApproximately 300 persons attended the open reception held Sunday in the Bethel Church Hall for Mr and Mrs Carl D Baker Sr of Cooper stown Star Route on the oc casion of their golden wedding anniversary The party was hosted by the couple’s six children; Kenneth D Baker Sr , Donald L Baker. Carl D Baker Jr , Mrs Gifford (Betty J.) Persing, Mrs John R. (Norma) Hogue Sr and Sharon Lee Baker The honorees also have 19 grandchildren and seven greatgrandchildrenA color scheme of gold and copper highlighted the decorations on the luncheon table A tiered cake, topped with the numerals “50” and bells, was baked and decorated by their daughter. Betty PersingAides were Mrs Herbert Shay, Mrs Thomas Pierce. Miss Isla Bower and Mrs Harding ShawAmong the guests were those attending from Orlando, Fla ; Wellsville and Canton, Ohio; Coatsviile, Edinboro andCambridge Springs Mr Baker and the former Ethalyn Lesher were married Nov 12. 1925 in Cooperstown Mr Baker was a school bus driver in Oakland Township for the Oil City Area Schools for 39 years He was also employed by Agway and was retired in August. 1970 Mrs Baker transported special education students for 14 years They are both Retired Senior Volunteer Program volunteers Mr and Mrs Baker spend their winters in Florida where Mr Baker enjoys golfing
