iDEDICATION OFLOCAL CHURCH'SUNDAYServices Conducted At FirstLutheran Church Are WeltAttended.Ss~ | Dedication of the re-modeled First * j Lutheran church of Princeton, up-s on Vhich improvements costing $20,000 were recently completed, took place here Sunday. Rev. F. A Jobnsson of .Maywood, vice-president of the Illinois conference, was pre-' I sent to take part in the service. Rev. ' J. A. Berg, Tuscan, Mich., who was e J pastor of the church from 1008 to 1918, and Prof. Oscar N. Olson of Augustana college, were present.The principle service was conducted at 2:30 o’clock in the afternoon with Dr. Jolinsson delivering the dedicatory sermon. There were special numbers on the new pipe organ, greetings from Mayor T. P. Gunning and a talk by Rev. K. E. Irvin, prc-e | sent as a representative of the Id in-i-j ! ceton Ministerial association. ProfU| .1 Olson spoke at the evening service.Sunday was the first time thatndnadt rvt the congregation has met in the church building since early in .March when repairs were started. Services were held during the interim at the city hail.tisilienr . .Among the conspicuous change-j which have been made in the ap-; pearanee of the building is a lowturret tower which has been built in| place of a tail steeple, and the fresh 1 appearance of bricks which were resurfaced with a sand blasting process.The interior of the church was altered extensively. The auditorium was remodeled and decorated and the front of the church was rearranged i- to accommodate a sanctuary and pipe :e I organ. Other additions are a Sunday school room and a new kitchen,J. \V. Brandt, chairman of tlm executive board, supervised TTJe work. He was assisted by A. M. Erickson, Herman Peterson, Vie-n I tor Nelson, and Herman Nelson, u* j The local church, which was or-it j ganized here in 1857, has a membership of 700 active communicants. The first church was built in 18 5 7 and dedicated in 1858. The remodeled church was constructed in 1890. Rev. Corl Lorimer has been paster for the past 5 years.;er _1-[).no* I;e
