pcuai i ut ai u niuiuoi vili j waovhas proven fatal.Got Ills Pension-Uncle Samuel Gruell received notice from the government a few days ago that he had been allowed a pension of twelve dollars a month and back pay for a little more than three years, or from the date of his application in 1894. The amount of back pay he received this week is 8460, end Uncle Samuiy feels that the time could not have been more apportune. He gets it, on account of the death of his only son and child who was a member of the Ninth Cavalry and was killed in the spring of ’65 as he was returnining home from the scene of war, by being blown up with the famous Sultana above Memphis on the Mississippi. He was his father’s only support. The government’s recognition of this claim was just and the onlv critici«m that can be offered is in the tardiness with which it received final consideration.
