Ames, Iowa, Monday, November 10,Mr. and Mrs. Bates Celebrate Golden Wedding AnniversaryVe6:2dasefMr818tive Mo: A vc sist AncIf nCEc17:45Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Bates celebrated their Golden Wedding Anniversary Sunday at their farm home southeast of Ames.A family dinner was served at noon and open house for friends and relatives was held during the afternoon.The couple’s six children were present. They are Mr. and Mrs.Don (Mayme) Morrison, Canon City, Colo.; Mr. and Mrs. Earl Bates, Medford, Wis.; Mr. and Mrs. Glen J. (Erma) Miller,Ames; Mrs. Harry (Genevieve) Berrett, San Jose, Calif.; Mr. and Mrs. Donald Bates, Charles City, and Mr. and Mrs. Avan Bates Carlisle. Twenty of the couple’s 2(1 grandchildren were also present They also have on great-grandchild.Bates’ brother Harley Bates of Grimes, and his sisters, Mr. and Mrs. Joe (Lottie) Severson, Ball Club, Minn., Mrs. Clara Ryerson and Mrs. Eftie Emerson, Ames, attended. Clint Bates, Abbotsford,Wis., and Mrs. Nellie Hobbs,Okla., were unable to attend.Mrs. Bates’ sister is Mrs. C. C.Davis, Ames.Approximately 150 friends and relatives called during the afternoon and were served from a beautifully decorated tea table Mrs. Effie Emerson and Mrs. Joe Severson poured. Margaret Miller and Linda Bates were in charge of the guest book.
