The old ,gentleman and his wife had no foreknowledge of the affair. but, as usual, * Fade Sam went to the field to shuck corn whither Ids son in-law went to find him and asked him to come up to Lallarpe to see the horse races. After much psreuasion lie was induced to drive up to»the barn where he found the yard and lanes full of teams and vehicles. The old man wondered if the races wore to be at his house or if everybody in the neighbor*hoed was going too. When the true situation was explained to him he entered into it with as much zest as any one present. A good dinner was had as the result of combined effort of the bringing of a basketful by each family represented. The feast was as ample as it was good and when the time to go-home arri/ed one wicked male guest was reminded of the feast of the multitude mentioned in the Good Book in that each and every woman took back more in her basket than she brought and the fragmegts were more than that brought or that eaten by the guests. A tine couch was presented to Mr. Sharpe as the united gift of those present of whom the following is'the list: Mr.and Mrs. John -Crabill,- Wm. Remelt, John li. Xorth-up; Mesdames Susan Marlatt, JamesLiteral, Addie Wright, Kate Forham; Misses Cora Marlatt, Ada Chapin, Lena Miller, Alice Xoles, Jessie Terry, Bessie DeHaven, Pearl Yeager, Lyda Coleman; Masters Ernest Chapin, Harley Acres, Warner Xoles, Roy Acres and Merlin Chapin. The children were all there comprising Mr. and Mrs. Charley Chapin, Mr. and Mrs. Wick Lionberger, Mr. and Mrs. Chariie Dorothy. Blanche Sharpe, Una Sharpeaod Inne Sharpe.
