Guysen International Opens in Spa Cady Hill ParkBy BARBARA STONE Staff WriterSARATOGA SPRINGS -A new industry, Guyson International, opened Thursday in the Cady Hill Industrial Park here.Guyson is the major British manufacturer of glass bead blastingmachines which are similar to sand blasters but capablfe of more delicate finishing.Thursday’s opening was marked by demonstrations and a buffet for area officials and the press.According to James Robertson, vice president and resident manager, “After 200 years the Britishare i back in Saratoga and they are cleaning up some of the things they left behind 200 years ago.”The 10,000 square foot facility at the Industrial Park features offices, show rooms, demonstration rooms and a warehouse.James Thomson, president, who is here fromBoard to Delay Action On Gemmiti IndictmentsEngland, said that Guyson is bringing in machines and equipment to evaluate which machines will sell best in North America. The glass bead blasting machines clean metal parts, engine parts, casting, molds and tools.He said “The range of the machine is from cleaning an oil tanker to a miniaturized transistor.”Asked why he chose to build his first North American plant here, Thomson said “I looked around the United States and I don’t like your cities. Saratoga Springs is likehome in England and Scotland.”He expressed delight with Lake George, comparing it to Interlaken.Starting now with four employes, the plant will expand with a potential employment of 100 to 500 persons, depending on the market.Lots of FishPanama comes from Indian words meaning abundance of fish.One of the demonstrations Thursday saw a British grenadier mortar with George Ill’s crest emerge from the Guyson machine looking as if it had just been forged to shoot at American rebels.EVERETT'S RESTEast River Rd., Ft Edward Donee every Sot.
