Blackwell family holds its 14th annual reunion here• WASHINGTON 'The 14th annual Blackwell family reunion was held on Saturday, at the Phyllis Wheatley YWCA from 1 - 12 midnight with family members traveling from. Connecticut, Maryland. Virginia, New York, Pennsylvania and other far away places.•This reunion idea originated in Richmond, Va. 15 years ago at the home of Miss Estelle Blackwell after the funeral of a member of the family. She suggested that the family should get together annually for a happy occasion.VOLUNTEERING to contact the members in order that they might meet and become acquainted with the many other relatives was Hammett Blackwell of Baltimore.The Interest has grown and the attendance at these reunions has increased from 24 ia 1*51 to 210 to date.One of the main attractions of the family gathering jnow is a six by seven foot oil painting on canvas, a reproduction of the “Family-Tree.”On the tree, the roots represent Peggy Blackwell and her union, the first known relative from which the family sprang.RESEARCH FOR thisfamily tree was compiled by Mrs. Thelma Doswell formerly of Warfield, V,a., now of D.C. from sources in Lunenburgh. Va. and Bruns-wich County Court House, Laurenceville, Va.The other attraction Is the festive board which includes some special recipes of certain members of the family — for example the lamb stew by Hammett and sweet potatoe pudding by Estelle Blackwell.The oldfst known livihgrelative is Mrs. CordeliaBlackwell Stokes of Bridge- i|port, Conn., whose age is j103.
