Celebrate 50th Anniversary of Wedding at Home TuesdayHILLSBORO, Iowa (Special to the Evening Democrat)—Mr. and Mrs. S. G Boley celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary, Tuesday. Invitations were sent to 30 guests. Sylvester G. Boley and Lou E. Brown were married November 1, 1882, at the home of J. Wheastley in Cedar Township, Van Buren County, Iowa. Mr. Boley was born in Cedar Township, December 10,1858. Mrs. Boley was born in Brown county, Ohio, December 21,1859. She came to Iowa in 1880 with her uncle, Caleb Wheatley, and made her home in the Wheatley home until her marriage.Their first home was on a farm one mile west of Hillsboro, from which they moved to the farm now occupied by Roland Newbold. They moved from there to their present home, where they have lived continuously for 40 years.They have five children, Zoe andBurch at home. Bruce of Mt. Zion, Mrs. Paul Ruby of Fairfield, and Mrs. Rex Miller of Bonaparte, five grandchildren, Ella Ruth, Vesta,and Glen Ruby, Louise Roley, andMargaret Lou Miller.The women of the M E. church held a quilt show and hobo lunch In the church Saturday afternoon.A wide array of quilts and coverlets were on exhibit. About 40 quilts remarkable for their age, beauty, or some other Interestingfact were displayed. A neat sum was realized from the lunch.Miss Elizabeth Bu/ton, who is taking nurses training in the St.Joseph hospital at Keokuk, visitedSunday with her sister, Mrs. O. E. Lester.Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Thrapp of Letts visited Sunday at the parental William Anderson home.Miss Fern Pope entertained at her home east of town Friday evening the pupils of the seventh and eighth grades with their teacher, Della McCabe, at a Hallowe’en party. Those attending were: Cheryl Duncan, Ruth Nelson, Virginia Haglund. Verda Doan. Mary Brooks, Hope McCabe, Jack Davidson, Frank Whitaker, Donald Stand-ley, Paul Sanderson, Leo Sanderson, Paul Reid, John Robert Williamson. Ruby Hott, Clifford Hoaglin, and tha teacher Mrs. McCabe. Refreshments were served by Mrs. Lester Pope.A program and pie social will be given at the Benton school house about three miles south of Big Mound Thursday evening November 3. Everybody invited to come and • bring pies and boxes of candies. Miss Ruby Adkisson, teacher.Mr and Mrs. Orr Earley entertained at dinner Sunday, Mr. and Mrs. John Earley and Joe of Fairfield. Mr. and Mrs. G. E. Sanderson, and Mr. and Mrs. A. W. Clark, Guy and Ruth.i
