StudyClub Observes*Xye50th AnniversaryComplete And Interesting History Of Local Organization Presented By Mrs. Ella 0. Shoemaker At Luncheon Friday At Woman’s ClubThe 50th aimiversarv of the Massillon Studv club was ob-served Friday at a luncheon at the Massillon Woman’s club, j A very complete and interesting history of the club was given | by Mrs. Ella O. Shoemaker, who was a charter member of the : club which was organized 50 years ago at the home of Mrs. i Caroline McCullough Everhart, the first president, in the house I known now as the K. E. Fox residence in Lincoln Wav, E. .Mrs. 11. V. Farrell is the present president or the club, Mrs.| Grace Miller, vice president and Mrs. C. E. Slusser, secretary.: The guests were seated in the dining room at a table ofi beautiful appointments having a large centerpiece of russet and ? yellow chrysanthemums and ferns. At each plate was a cor-j sage of yellow babv mums tied with yellow ribbon.| During these 50 years the club has studied the history and literature of many countries, lands and peoples, has taken an active interest in civic and local affairs and has proved to be a source of untold help and inspiration and uplift to its members many of whom have long since passed away.Since 1933 there has been a per- j- -feet record or membership—that of; whitmever. Red Riding Hoods, gypsies, clowns and many other representatives from story books, Friday afternoon whenMrs. John Burton entertained herKiddie Kollege with a costumesue- P*rty-and Voted the mast outstanding by mav -3U(!ses were Sharon Emmons as an^ithe Evening Star, Jerry Collier, who a{_ portrayed Uncle Sam, Nancy Long as a princess, Judy Dowling, whoj made an attractive little nurse com- i plete with cape, Teddy Stults, asi Obie the Tiger mascot with baton, football and whistle and Carol Hoffman, charming little Mary from the nursery rhyme, pulling a small lamb; on strings. iA grand march, songs. Hallowreen stories and movies shown by Ted Stults, were enjoyed by the children. Refreshments, consisting of large cookies having pumpkin faces and pumpkin centered ice cream J were served in the tea room. The! tables were decorated with lightedjack o’ lanterns and the favors were small baskets of Halloween candies. The place cards were decorated with witches and sticks of chewing gum were attached.
