But can you guess where they were Saturday morning? If you were driving or shopping downtown, or just relaxing on your porch along Apperson Way, Union, Mulbeiry or Main streets, you would have noticed a parade of Christians carrying posters, singing and chanting for the 1998 worldwide March for Jesus,The Howard County Ministerial Association sponsored the rally, which began at 9 a.m. Saturday at the Kokomo High School, downtown campus. The parking lot east of the school became a melting pot of more than 50 churches and denominations. Marchers were reminded that Christianity not only calls for them to carry the cross their savior died upon, but to stake it in neighborhoods they believe need the same salvation they claim as believers.“We need to also march in our own areas where our churches are and adopt areas — whether it is to clean up the streets or make ourselves available to help people get things done. And I feel that's an area our church has failed at and could do more,” said the Rev. Don Gifford of New Life Assemblies of God. He hopes this summer will be productive for his church as it attempts to help others.►Turn to MARCH /AS
