Delphos Man willReceive Degree AtBowling Green S.U.Bowling green, May 30 —(INS) — Honorary degreeswill be presented to an Ohioanregarded as theworld's greatest jamateur astron-omist and to aPeltierjudge of the Ohio Supreme eourt at Bowling Green State fplu n i v e r s i t y’s llil commencement June 12.Dr. Frank J.Prout, presidentof the university, will confer e degree of doctor of science in astronomy upon Leslie C. Peltier ofDelphos and the degree of doctor of juridical science upon Judge Charles B. Zimmerman of Springfield.Peltier, a 47-year-old toy designer, has won world-wide acclaim for his discoveries and observations of variable stars. He is credited with discovering 10 comets and two stars. The Peltier comet, which he found May 14, 1936, is the brightest discovered since Hailey's in 1910.He bought his first telescope with money earned by picking 900 quarts of strawberries at two cents a quart when he was 16years old. He progressed from there to his present stature as an astronomer who receved awards from the astronomical society of the Pacific and the American Association of Variable Star Observers and who is now using a six-inch telescope loaned by Princeton university -in his own observatory.Judge Zimmerman, a graduate of Wittenberg college and Harvard Law school, has been on the supreme court since 1933.
