WBA Team Pleased with ConventionThe twelve ladies representing, Mexia Woman’s Benefit Association j gs a guard team have returned from ' the State convention held in Hous-1 ton and Galveston the past week.‘ The team composed of: Mrs. Moni-ta Woolsey, captain; Mesdames A. W. Anderson, Phil Hcelzel, 0. P. Watkins, C. T. Knox, Ed Clarke, T. M. Robinson, C. V. Dorsett, Leila Mac Lee, Raymond Wallace, F. A. Reed and O. Y. Manning. They report a wonderful trip, having witnessed the most impresive affair ever staged by a fraternal organization.Leaving Mexia Monday noon an a •pecial V/. B. A. train they were met in Houston by the Southern Pacific band and escorted to the Rice Hotel. Tuesday morning the .conyention opened in the city auditorium with 1500 women present from all parts of the state. An informal program was held followed by a magnificent parade of the women in unique costumes of their district colors.Tuesday night was open to the pub lie.Thirty two teams put on a program of military drills and stunts. Among the outstanding teams was El Paso with a guard of 3G ladies dressed in matador costumes. They were accompanied by Mayor Jackson of El Paso who stated that his city presented these gorgeous costumes to the ladies of El Paso W. B. A. Review and financed the expense of the trip to the convention, an expenditure of $1300.San Antonio was represented by 66 members in Spanish gowns. Each of the 32 towns represented by teams had a different program from the other, every one attractive in detail.The Mexia team, one of the smallest in attendance won generous applause with their Irish dance, in costumes of Shamrock green.Wednesday noon, the State Commander, Mrs. Sallie D.
