Mrs. Littler nominated for award! The board of directors of Weld Mental Health Center, Inc., voted unanimously to nominate Kathleen P. Littler of Greeley, for the 1973 Citizen’s Achievement Award for the Stale of Colorado.Her activities and accomplishments for the past 20 years and at the present timehave been, and continue to be ofcritical importance to mental health and mental retardation programs in this slate.Mrs. Littler has been a lifelong resident of nor* Iheastern Colorado and Weld County. Her participation in mental health began in 1953 when she became a member of the Weld County Mental Health Association which she served as president from 1955-1957. She actively fought for the development of a mental health program in Weld County andimrnTtPorl in motvi inllmlof County Commissioners. She served as a member of the board of the Weld County Mental Health Clinic and later, Center, from 1961-1969, and as its chairman 1964-1969.She accomplished many things in the mental health program in Weld County while serving two terms in the Colorado House of Representatives, 1961-1964, promoting the passage of much legislation for menial health and mental retardation programs. In 1961 she sponsored the legislation . transferring the Colorado mental health programs from the Colorado Department of Health to the Department of Institutions, and in 1964, the legislation which permanently established the Community Center Foundation programs for ihe mentally retarded.From 1963-1969 Mrs. Littler was chairman of the Stateof that board. From 1964-1967 she was a member of the boardof the Colorado Association of Mental Health, and 1965-1969 was chairman of the Governor’s Commission for Mental Health and Mental Retardation.Since 1954 she has been a member of the State Facilities Advisory Council representing the mental health consumer and from 1970 to the present she has been a member of the Developmental Disabilities Council, presently serving as vice chairman or that council. From 1971 to the present she is a member of the Weld County Association for the .
