Bishop Simpson was present andofficiated on the occasion, delivering a discourse which was a great effort of pulpiteloquence, as might have been expectedfrom this eminent divine, lie tookfrom Romans 1: 16 “For 1 am not ashamedof the gospel of Christ: for it is the powerGod unto salvation to every one that believethj” and poured forth a stream of earneloquence that electrifiedaudience and carried them with him intobeautiesIwnefits of pure, unadulterated Christianity,ns gained only by faith in Him who died tosave. The Bishop was assisted by Dr. Loomis, President of Allegheny College andPresidingJamestown District. The attendance on theoccasion was very large, and the effortsmndo to raise funds towards liquidating thesuccessbeenthe day. Dr. Loomis preached in the evening, his discourse being a very fine one, audcontributing to render the day a bright onein the religious history of Pithole.We cannot drop this subject without pay-tributoteland zeal which has been manifested by theresident pastor of the Church, Rev. D. S.Steadman. He has labored indefatigablyIrom almost the beginning of Pithole’s history up to the present time to establish areligious landmark in the boroughChristians could feel they were welcome andbenefitsChristian worship. At last his efforts havecrowned with success,edifice which adorns the hillside and whichgladdens the eye of the traveler as he approaches our borough, is one of which olderestablished communities initcht bobeing commodious, neat and substantial.Wo congratulate Mr. Stead man and the800having a churchover which the incubus of debt is not hanging.
