55th Wedding AnniversarydfiWiMr. and Mrs. Luke Houck of Midway observed their 55th wedding anniversary by re* peating their wedding vows at the Midway Church erf God Saturday at 7 p.m.Hie Rev. Gene Bowen performed the ceremony and traditional wedding music was provided at the organ by Mrs. James Pitsenbarger.The couple exchanged wedding vows on May 20, 1916 in Baldwin, N. C., and have resided in the Sophia area since 1917. Houck worked as a contractor prior to his retirement.Nine of their ten children attended the special observance with Mrs. Orla (Nancy) Murdock of Scranton, Pa., being unable to attend. Other children include Mrs. Lester (Ruth) Eller of Alderson, Mrs. Dave (Mary) Kinsley, Midway, Mrs. Carl (Betty Jo) Mecklovic, Mrs. John (Alice) Sumerville, Mrs. Ronda (Esther) Ransom all of Richmond, Va., Glen of Midway, Mason of Jacksonville, N. C., Henry of Richmond, Va., and Baxter of Sophia.The Houcks have 42 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren.A reception was held In die auxiliary building of the church following the ceremony.Approximately 75 guests attended.
