In a recent issue the Providence Bulletin says the following concerning a lecture delivered by Captain Pettis:“The North Providence Improvement association held its regular monthly meeting at the Fruit Hill assembly rooms last evening. It was in reality a business affair, but the presence of a special speaker in the person of State Sealer of Weights and Measures George H. Pettis, who gave a talk on the people of Arizona and f.‘t- j New Mexico, and his experiences withtyjthe famous officer and scout, Kit Carinas t ra-ee ill-ofib-ill to . aheryngraesallte-ofisirtat-9ir-re-se-m-taoforheson, served to entertain the meeting.“Captain Pettis in no way disappointed the hopes that had been entertained of interesting tales of Indian campaigning. He spoke at some length upon the history and mythology of the Pueblo Indians, and described the characteristics of the other inhabitants of the Arizona plains.
