RSiAZOO CITYSWEPT BY FIREFLAMES BEYOND CONTROL; 12BLOCKS BURNEDTrains Being Rushed From OtherCities With Engines.Memphis, Tenn., May 25.—A telephone report from Greenwood, Miss.,says the town of Yazoo City, Miss., is burning, and the last communication with the city was to the effect that the fire was completely beyond control.ness houses and residences have beendestroyed by the flames. The fire originated in the block occupied b the Western Union and Postal Telegraph companies and the telephone exchange, and shortly afterward all communication with Yazoo City wascompletely cut off.Trains loaded with fire apparatus are being rushed from Greenwood and Jackson. It is said 12 blocks of busi-It is reported that the residence of jHon. John Sharp Williams, the mi- *il »nority leader in the House of Reprtsen-tatives, has been destroyed.Yazoo City is a city of 6000 inhabitants, located in the famous Yazoo delta. It is 45 miles from Jackson,on the Yazoo and Missippi Valley railroad.At 1 o’clock all efforts to securecommunication with the town provedfruitless.
