Old friends and church friends and associates were guests.Wearing a dubonnet floral print dress, Mrs. Eggers was presented with an orchid, by her neighbors, Mr. and Mrs. Leander D. Hopper. Mrs. Deland assisted her inreceiving guests.In the reception room, an arrangement of orange toned day lilies brightened the corner, while another base held a bouquet of red and white gladioli. The white frosted birthday cake, the artistry of a neighbor, Mrs. T.J. Grace, was topped with the numeral “89”. The party delicacies were in keeping with the white and yellow theme. Family heirloom crystal complemented the table decor, part of which had been used by Mrs. Eggers and her late sister Mrs. R.J. Mills in past decades.Mrs. Ophelia Williams, Mrs. Lela Coalwell, and Mrs. Richard Raiford presided at the cake, punch and coffee services during the reception hours.The birthday celebrant received among others former pupils taught in the old Annie Eastman schoolhouse site where a wooden structure served as her classrooms for many years. Church friends from the Seventh Day Baptist Church where she has held membership for numerous years were present. The Rev. DeLand, her pastor was cohost for the courtesy with Mrs. DeLand.
