Speck Sr.were honored at a 50th wedding anniversary paUy Sunday at their home.The affair was arranged by their children Mr. and Mrs. Noruian Allen, Augusta, Mr. and Mrs. Joseph S. Speck Jr., Concord, Calif., Mr. and Mrs. Delbert Br*nn, South China, Mr. and Mrs. George R. Speck, Augusta, Miss Roberta Speck, South China and her fiance, Freeman Eugley, Augusta.They were presented with a money tree, cards, gifts and bouquets. Mrs. Speck was presented a yellow orchid corsage and Mrs. Speck a white carnation boutonniere.Mr. and Mrs. Speck were married May 14, 1921 at St. Mark’s Church, Augusta. Following their marriage they lived in Augusta for 10 years, moved to Fairfield where they lived for 11 years, returning to Augusta, where they lived until they moved to South China about nine years ago.Mrs. Speck is a native of Chelsea, the daughter _of the late Mr. and Mrs. Asa Peabody.She was educated in Augusta Schools and graduated from Cony High School. She was employed as an LPN in nursing homes and as a private duty nuxie in the Augusta area.Mr. Speck was born in Yorkshire, England, where be was educated. He moved to the United States in his late teens. He wis employed by the Esso Oil Co. for 35 years prior to his retirement 10 years ago.Both Mr. and Mrs. Speck attend St. Barnabas Episcopal Church, Augusta. They are the parents of five children; Mrs. Edna Allen, Joseph Jr., Mrs. Martha Bran, Robert and Miss Roberta Speck. They have 17 grandchildren.The guest book was circulated by the Misses Dawn Brann, Kathy. Allen and Pamela and Jane Speck, grandchildren of the honored guests, Mr. and Mrs, Joseph Speck Jr. dipped punch.Approximately 100 guests attended from Augusta, China, Windsor, Fairfield, Portland, Cumberland, Winthrop, Union, Cooperi Mill*, Whitefield, Hallo-well and California.A*1aAGwscpsc
