Father Helienstreit to Mark 25th AnniversaryThe Rev. Father Paul Heben-! streit. formerly of Alton and now at Glen Carbon, will celebrate his 25th anniversary in the priesthood. Wednesday, at Springfield, and again nex Sundav in his parish church.Next Sunday he will celebrate Solemn High Mass in St. Cecil ia's Church at Glen Carbon From 12:30 to 3:30. buffet luncheon will be served to the pastor s guests by women of the parish. On Sunday evening, a parish party will be given for Father Hebenstreit.At the Mass next Sunday. Fathers Lawrence Mattingly of Mitchell. Joseph Deneen of Troy and Henry Sehwener will assist.The celebration at Springfield Wednesday will be for nine priests of the Diocese of Springfield who were ordained 25 years ago. and at 11 a.m. Bishop William A. O’Connor will celebrate Pontifical Mass A dinner for the priests will follow.The youngest of eight children. Paul Hebenstreit was bom Jan 15. 1911. on a farm near Oconee. III., a son of Mr. and Mrs Charles Hebenstreit. He attended Sac mi | Heart School in Oconee, and later Routt High School in Jacksonville. He then attended Quincy ! College, and graduated at the top | of his class. He then went to Ken irick Seminary in St. Louis and in ** rdatnod to the prie-hood by the late Bishop James A iT1 GriffinHis first assignment was to Alton as assistant to Father .J J Brurre. pastor of St. Mary’s. In mb, he began graduate work at I St, Units University and in 1947 received a master's degree in so-rial work He became director of ^ Alton-Wood River Catholic Charities and later organized Quad-! □tics Catholic Chanties at Gran-te City.
