Another AecidentEarlier, about 10:15 p.m., two cars were damaged in a hit-run accident on Kte. 47 a short distance south of the Illinois river bridge that was also investigated by Sheriff Vilt.Charles L. Shepard, 1340' a Lisbon St., was following a car driven by Mrs. Naomi Reinhold, 511 y% E. Main street, bothnorthbound on Rte. 47. Another car, described as a 1955 red Oldsmobile started to pass the two cars but was forced back by another approaching car. The Olds struck Shepard’s car shoving it into the Reinhold car, but did not stop. It did slow down as it went up the approach of the Illinois river bridge how-ever, then sped on, Shepard told the sheriff.Shepard took chase and followed the red car through Morris over Rte. 47 and for a distance west on Rte. 6 at a speed of 75 miles an hour but gave up at the west city limits on Bedford Road.The left rear corner and left side of the Reinhold car was damaged by the Shepard car that was also damaged in the same places by the hit-run driver.Sheriff Vilt said he was told the occupants of the hit-run car appeared to be a group of young people.
