v-UHiiui y iu uiu uaiuu v;umuui, i«u jl icoi*dent pro tempore of the Senate was elected.A Family lit*union.It was our pleasure to attend the celebration of the births of Mr. John Ueckley and Mrs. Daniel Wcyaiul, his sister, at Mr. Ueckley’s home at Boyal Center, he having reached his TJhl year on the 19th of May, lbSl, and Mrs. Weyaud her 71st year, and to the writer of this it was a day long to be remembered by him. There were present the relatives as follows: Mr. George W.Ueckley and family,Thomas J. Ueckley andfamily, Mrs. David Ueckly, widow of thelate David Uecklep. Mrs. Isaac Ueckley,widow of the late Isaac Ueckly, and her family, Mr. G. 1J. Moore and his family, Mr. M. A. Little and Ills family, George Weyaud and family, Mrs. Lewis Ueckley, Joseph G. Barren and family, N. U. Barron and wife, Mr. Lewis Kumtner and our old friend Daniel Weynnd brother-in-law of Mr. John Ueckley who said that he and Mr. Ueckley had been married over fifty years. Also, the remarkable old widow of our old and departed friend Martin Schleglemlich, and George Schleglerailch, who have reached their 76th year. May they live many more is the' writer’s wish, and many old friends were present, among whom were Amos Kistler and family nnd Mrs. llenry Kistler. After partaking of a bountiful dinner the time was passed off in general conversation in which the old and young participated. Many a sad thought, perhaps, was for the moment indulged m silent reflection by some, but alas, such is life, we can not always be young. Inspired with the solemnity of the moment, tiie writer thought of the past. • Thus another milestone on the road of life has been passed by each of our venerable old friends, John Beckly and Mr. Daniel Weyaud. They are eacli one year nearer the hour when the dark curtain will be lifted nnd they will pass forever into thesilent land, Now we are not proposing to preach a sermon, but to present some philosophic views. The prospect of leaving this world should never cause a shudder or draw a tear. We know that we arc physical beings and that all must die.
