Not Quit*.—ilooday night at the hour of locking the prisoners in the Penitentiary in* to their cells it wa» discovered that two of them were mining. A thorough search in the yard resulted in finding nothing. It wai thought that they must however be bid somewhere, aod it was expected that they intended to dig out by eomo meant* A watch waa accordingly set, who, dnring the night heard a auspicious noise about the pnvy. An investigation led to the finding of the two men in the vanlt thereof.Yesterday two prisoners, part of a gang at work about MiTCBSLi’a Mill, took auddeu leave of their .companions and .the guard, and ran up the river as fast aa the., desire for liberty urged them. Their fight, how* ever, was; very unfortunately for them, terminated by men at* work about a milo and a half up iberiver.by whom they were stopped and returned to their Quarters m the Penitentiary.'
