Taps by buglers will echo across the countryside.Thousands will enjoy the day with outings, visits to relatives or friends far and near, fishing, or by resting at home if the desire to roam does not strike them. Actually it will be a day when practically everything conies to a standstill except the modes of transportation.Law-enforcement officials will be especially watchful over the holiday weekend and urge all motorists to take it easy while driving on the highways and participating in all recreational activities. Swimming facilities in state parks will open officially. adding to the fun of the water enthusiasts.Following* welcome ^ by I Corps League; and Jack Heyd-lt;tNcNemey, there' win be the placing of wreaths in a half circle at the base of the monument by the veterans groups and auxiliaries. A special wreath representing the Ohio Department of Disabled American Veterans will be placed by Jack Heydenreich, slate commander.Services will be held at 10 a,m, at Memorial Park by the American Legion and at Wood-lawn Cemetery by the Veteransof Foreign Wars. Then at 2 there will be one at theAppropriate music then will be presented by the Maysville High School band after which McNemey will conduct a roll call of deceased veterans.Speaker Atty. John C. Ringhisen will be introduced byMcNemey. After his talk, theband will present another selection and then play the National Anthem. Benediction by Rev. Charles Martineau, assistant pastor of St. Thomas Catholic Church will be followed by a rifle salute fired by a squad from VFW Post 1058 and American Legion Post 29 directed by William Fraunfelter. Playing of taps will dose the ceremony.The committee in charge of the afternoon program is comprised of Harry Basehart, American Legion Post 29, chairman; Harold Richardson, commander VFW Post 1058; Harold Baughman, Marineenrelch, DAV.For the most part, businesses, offices and industries will be dosed down Memorial Day.Many ordinarily do not function on Saturday anyway.Except for a few private concerns, the only ones who will get extra time off because of the Saturday holiday are the federal offices such as the Soil Conservation Service, Agricultural Stabilization Conservation office and Sodal Security Administration office which will be dosed Friday. Only service the post office andsub-stations will give is specialdelivery and delivery of perishable articles.Financial institutions, dty and state offices and most private concerns will observe usual hours the day before Memorial Day as will businesses and industries.Among the local industries checked, Surplus Materials said it had no definite plans yet about Memorial Day but normally works only five days a week, Hazel Atlas Division of Continental Can reported in all likelihood it will not be working, Mosaic Tde said it doesn’t normally work on Saturday anyway, Armco Steel stated chances are not very strong it will be working, and LinebbiiCbtlbtldanonr1J1dhIttlajstltiasti
