CITIES SERVICEPLANS BIG LINEFirm A*k» FCC for AuthorityTo Extend Facilities inI Kansas AreaFormal application for authority to begin construction of a new 26-inch natural gas pipe line extending 405 miles from the Kansas portion of the Hugoton gas field to Kansas City, Mo., has been transmitted to the Federal Power commission by Cities Service Gas company, it was announced today.In addition to new facilities which will be added to the company's system and which includegatheiing lines, compressor stations, a dehydration plant and other equipment items, permission is also sought for substantial additions to the existing pipe line system.The application contemplates a construction program over a four-year period, beginning in 1947, and reveals that the total ultimate cost of the proposed pipe line and related facilities plus additions to the existing pipe line system will be approximately $30,000,000. ;Principal initial facilities which the company proposes to build and for which it is asking a certificate of public convenience and necessityL are the following:51 1. Approximately' 405 miles of• 26-inch natural gas pipe line ex-’ tending from a proposed compres-’ sor station in the Kansas portion of the Hugoton field to Kar.sas City, Mo.2. A 12,000-horsepower compressor station and a dehydration plant located at the end of the proposed pipe line in the Hugoton field.3. A telephone line and communication facilities connecting the new compressor station and the company’s present Straight stationlocated near Guymon, Okla4. Approximately 33.5 miles of 16-inch pipe line loop from the Cotton Valley measuting station in Washington county, Oklahoma, to a point on the existing Quapaw 16-inch line inCraig county, Oklahoma.I5. A 1,610 horsepower compres-1 por station at Hund Junction in Leavenworth county, Kansas.6. An addition of 230-horsepow- ' er to the Lyons, Kas., compressor plant in Rice county.In the application for federal authority the company has said it proposes to begin construction of j • these facilities on or about April , 1, 1947, and that completion is anticipated by October 1, 1947.
