Burlington Master Mechanics and Superintendents Memorialise West and Eckerson.i St. Joseph Herald: The second day’s session of the master mechanics and superintendent of the Burlington route was held yesterday. The morning and afternoon meeting were taken up in the discussion of subjects of Interest to both branches of the work. When the meeting adjourned at 6 o’clock the joint session was at an end as far as the. transaction of business was concerned. This morning at 8:30 the two bodies will meet if* separate session. The superintendents will meet in the card room and the master mechanics will meet in th° auditorium of the Commercial club. It is thought that the session will close about 4 o’clock this afternoon.A memorial meeting was held at 8 o’clock last evening in honor of the late Joel West and late C. W. Eckerson. Joel West was general master mechanic of the Iowa lines with headquarters at Burlington, until the time of his death, about six weeks ago. After hi* death the office of general master mechanic was abolished and C. W. Eckerson was appointed to filll the place with the title of master mechanic. Eckerson had been a co-worker and friend of Joel West for many years and was one of the pall bearers at the funeral. He was not destined to fill the place very long for he dropped dead on the streets of St. Eouls a little over two weeks ago.The memorial meeting was presided over by T. E. Calvert, who took the chair in the absence of Howard Elliott who was called to St. Louis yesterdav afternoon. Many touching tributes were paid the departed railroad men by their friends and co-laborers, among whom both men were highly respected.
