Mrs. Delano heads Monti FoundationMrs. Jay R. Delano has been appointed as executive director of the Monticello College Foundation, which maintains its offices and a public museum at the Evergreens on the Lewis and Clark Com munity College campus.Mrs. Delano succeeds Mrs. Dorothy K Harris, who has served as director since 1970 when the Monticello College buildings and grounds were sold to the State of Illinois for the establishment of Lewis and Clark College. Mrs. Harris recently resigned.The former Winifred Gottschalk, Mrs. Delano is a graduate of Monticello Preparatory School and the college On graduation from the University of Wisconsin, she returned to Monticello as a member of the faculty. She was elected as an alumnae representative to the Monticello Board of Trustees in 1957, a position she held until 1960 In 1976. she was again elected to board membershipMrs. Delano’s community and civic interests include the following: member and past president of the Alton Monticello Alumnae Association; board member and finance chairman of the Y.W.C.A.; sustaining member and past president of the Junior Service League; past president of the Alton .Community Service League; past president of the White Cross Auxiliary of Alton Memorial Hospital; board member of the Alton Day Care Center;and former member of the board of the Youth Development Committee.The Foundation, under Mrs Harris, has made grants annually to selected privately and publicly-supported educational institutions and agencies, and will continue its'programs.
