This Troop, organised in 1938, now is under the guidance of Eev. Charles Smid, chairman of the scouting committee, and Fred Slack, scoutmaster.The wooden hut with concrete floor has a large meeting and game room, four patrol rooms, a kitchen, workshop and darkroom for photography.A Young Cititzen Club, originated by Dr. L. H. Hubbard and the late Dr. C. D. Judd, was presented to Denton Rotarians in April, 1941. Each year thereafter the club has honored the outstanding boy and girl from each school in Denton County with a special program. Certificates are presented to the winners who are selected as outstanding citizens by their schools.Early Study of ServiceThe club began its study of Denton problems soon after receiving its charter May 1, 1920. A study of minutes of the club for this period shows that on • May20, 1920, the late T. H. Mathiasongave an “interesting discussion” on work among boys and, listed tentative plans of his committee on that subject. Tliis was followed June 10 toy a talk on the topic by a representative of the state Y. M. C.
