Area Couple Celebrate Golden Wedding AnniversaryMr. and Mrs. Fred Trach of Gilbert Plains were the guests of their family on Monday, April 7 at an “at home” for relatives and friends in hdnor of their Golden Wedding anniversary. All attended a family Mass in the Guardian Angel Roman Catholic church at 11 j a.m.. conducted by Rev. Father Nagengast, after which they I gathered in the banquet room I of the Gilbert Plains hotel-for | a family dinner. Following the dinner the family returned home where Karl Alkier of Dauphin took pictures.During the afternoon guests j were greeted by daughters I Margaret (Sister Marmion) and I Mrs. Ernie Shmon (Emily) and their son Louis, while their twin granddaughters Monica • and Veronica were in charge of the guest book which was signed by 60 people.? Dauphin.Academy at Middlechurch. whileSister Marmion (Margaret) is an X-ray and lab technician on the staff of St. Vincent hospital, Sioux City, Iowa, but presently temporarily at Madison, Wisconsin.Mr. and Mrs. Victor Kowalski of Dauphin were present for the afternoon, the former having been groomsman fifty years ago. Also present from out- of-tawn--were- Mrs. Brian 1-esktw and daughter Michelle of Winnipeg; Mr. and Mrs. Mike Trach and young son of Fort William. Ont.; Mr. and Mrs. Paul Trach, Mr. and Mrs. Joe Mus, Mr. and Mrs. Elgin Porter, Mr. and Mrs. Mel Chute and daughter all of Dauphin.The family gave their parents •i pair of end tables and matching lamps as a remembrance of the happy occasion.StMiss Annette Podworny, bride-elect of May 3, was honored at a shower held in the Columbus hall on Thursday. April 10. The hostesses for the evening were Miss Marcella Derkat/,, Mrs. Mike Podworny, Mrs. Peter Plesh, Mrs. Wm. Derkat/, Mrs. S. Bewski and Mrs. L. Mus.Mr. and Mrs. Trach were married at Dauphin on K'b. 4. 1919 and lived in the Keld district. until moving lo the district soulh-west of Gilbert Plains in the spring of 1940 where they resided until moving in to Gilbert. Plains in the fall of 1965.They have raised a family of six sons and three daugh tcrs, all of whom were home for the occasion except one son. There are twelve grandchildren and one great-granddaughter. Four sons John, Anthony, Peter and Edwin reside in the Gilbert Plains district; Louis lives in Dauphin and Frank is at Grand Forks. BC, Mrs. Ernie Shmon (Emily) resides in Winnipeg; the two younger daughters belong to the Order of St. Benedict. Sister Aquina (Frances) is on the teaching staff of St. Benedict'sCorsages were presented to the guests of honor, her mother, Mrs. II Podworny and her grandmother, Mrs. J. Mus.
