ALLEGED RAVISHER • , ESCAPES FROM JAILBartlesville. Okla,, May 7. — John “Shine” Popejoy, charged with first degree assault on Mrs. Stanley Vogler of Tulsa, escaped from the county jail here some time Saturday night by sawing through the bars and letting himself down on a rope ladder. It is believed he had outside help. Popejoy was to be tried, at the May. tenth of district court. F^dr Carner, Was tried for the same offense last month and given twenty years in the-penitentiary* Merle, Wrone and Joe Talley are being fee*! for trial on a similar charge.1
