Many beautiful pres ents were received and save the core motiy, the reception and elegant re past, which lasted from 8o’clock tlt; 10 in the evening, was all that am bride of twenty summers could wisl for her marriage day.IVlrs. Wolf, oi Pittsburg, besides a number of rein tives and iutiuiate friends from Chamliershurg.Jacob Heyser and hi* bride of eigli teen, fifty years ago, took the mid night train to Harrisburg on the C V. Railroad The train awaited tin mail coach from Pittsburg which w.o whisked in by way of McConnells burg by four lug horses. On their journey the train ran over and killed four cows at Shippeiisburg. They arrived at Harrisburg at 7 a. in., and in Philadelphia at •! p. in., making the trip in 15 hours. However, at that early day the road afforded the luxury of a sleeper which had berth* almost similar to the berth now in wm.The road did not extend any further south than (’hambersbuig at that time. Carlisle, in those days, was a town of 4.son population, Chambers burg ft,not)and Hagerstown something less, w it.h no aggressiveness.Jacob Heyser, when a young man, had many intimate acquaintances md friends in Hagerstown. lie is a leseendeut of ('apt. William Heyser, who raised a regiment of soldiers in this city during the Revolutionary War, and who was coutciu|orury with Hager and Punk, the first settlers. He was a physician and came from the Netherlands.This same William Heyser commenced tin* building of the Herman Reformed church (now Zion Re formed) in 1771. He had two sous, Jacob uml William. The former went to ('liambersburg; the latter became president of the Hagerstown Bank, which position he held for a number of years. He lived on the corner of Jonathan and Antietam streets, in what is now t lie Walker projierty. He had a son William, who was the father of Captain tteorgc Heyser ami John lb \ sor. deceased, and Henrietta Heyser (now Snyder), of t his city, and second cousin of Jacob Heyser. The Jacob Heyser who emigrated from here to ('liambersburg, had a son William, who was father of Jacob Heyser now living in Chambersbiirg.Among his old friends in this city were Andrew llager, Peter Swartz walder, Richard Ragan, Dr. Harvey, (ieorge Premier, J. (*. Robertson, Solomon Rohrer, D. (’. Aiighinbaugh Andrew K. Svester. Betij. Pechtig, C. Art/., K.M.Mobley. I. C. Hammond , II. K. Tice. John A. kausler, Joseph Kausler, Peter Negley, Peter B. Small, Sr., Samuel J. Rouskulp. Mr*. Heyser was a daughter of Pred crick Smith, of Chamliersburg, and her bridesmaid was PJIen (irahatn, who afterward married John Arm af mug.Mr. Heyser at 74 is a man of keen intelh*ct and buoyant spirits and is engaged in the active duties of life A strange coincidence is found in the fact that ill Scharf’s history of West ern Maryland, the biography of Wil liaui Hevser follows directly that of (’lias. W. Humrichouse, whose golden wedding oceured Wednesday.
