However, his children honored dim Saturday evening at the Scout House,'with some 40 present, including the following families: i H. H. During the evening the candles'were lighted and greeting sang to Mr. Ellison. Interesting films were shown by Dean Greg son and Bert -Gibb. of their recent trips. Lunch was served by the daughters and ^daughters-in-law. and- an- enjoyable -evening was, spent. .. i: Joseph Ellison was bom in 1864at Kaysville, Utah, one of 12 children. He-married Lavina. Ruth Wig-gill and they farmed and ranched near Kaysville. In 1889 they came-to Canada, in company with the Richard Pilling family and others. They took three months to make this hard overland journey. The women drove covered wagons andthe men drove cattle. NomineeCRANBROOK, B.C. — (HNS) — Funeral services take place Wed-, nesday afternoon at VuJcan: United* Church for Samuel Watson Johnson^ who died here Friday at the age of 64 years. Born at Carman, Man.. he accompanied his parents to Vulcan, Alta., in the early 1900’s, grew up- there and operated5 a farm in that district for 40 years. Following its sale he retired and had lived here untillate 1951. He was a member of the Vulcan Canadian Legion.His wife died about 1930 and he is survived, by three daughters, Mrs. Oscar ' Anderson at Leth-3n 1902 Mr. Ellison was foreman of the Knight Ranching Company doing a lot of riding. For many years he owned and operated a steam threshing outfit. He extended has land holdings and became a successful farmer, rancher .andsheepman. He has also been an active member of the LDS Church. He. filled a 26 month mission in Oregon and Manitoba and later a six month mission in Washington. He was the first Sunday Schoolsuperintendent at Aetna, and for 40 years was a.High Councilman in the Alberta Stake. For ten years prior to 1S50 he was an officiator in the Alberta Temple, until his health failed him.In 1940 Mr. and Mrs. Ellison retired dnd moved into Cardston to work in the Temple. Four years later Mrs. Ellison passed away, after they had celebrated' their Diamond Wedding anniversary. In 1946 Mr.. Ellison remarried Mrs. Mary Leavitt.Mr. Ellison is the father of elevenchildren, ten living, 48 grandchildren,- 60 great grandchildren - arid-two great-great-grattdchildren. He is in fair health.
