Wear a properly adjusted life jacket and protective footwear designed for river recreation. Those are the basics.On Monday, the Texas Department of Transportation took another step to ensure safer river time. It devised and installer grate at the FM 1350 bridge in Center Point.The project is a direct attempt to save lives. Last July 3, Cer Point resident and business owner Betty Wardlaw died as a result of being pulled into a whirlpool, which forced her into lt;of the box culverts under the bridge. The debris in the culvert trapped her, causing her to drown.Since that incident. Pet. 2 Commissioner Bill Williams; Ken Wardlaw, Betty’s husband; and the Kerrville TxDGT group ha worked to find a solution. We applaud the work and the ingenuity that went into the project. It will no doubt save live: There are other bridges and crossings that are grated in Ken County.
