central assoelatJo .Signs of ProgressAt the time of tho erection of tfta high school, there waa not a college graduate In the town of Clendenin, except the high school principal. /Ur. S. Morris. In fact, only a few of the citizens of the town had ever graduated from high school or even a grader! school. Now, many of the high school graduates are iti business in this section or other towns of the state. A great many students have completed college. At the present time over 50 per cent of the students who graduate from the local-high school enter college/ This Is a higher percentage than the aver-age for West VirginiaGraduates from the high school h«ve made good. Many are now located as lawyers, doctors, denttets, teachers and in other professions and business occupations. At the present time Clendenin has many high school graduates enrolled In the best institutions of our state and nation. Such schools as Harvard, Ohio State, Princeton, West Virginia university. Marshall and West Virginia Wesleyan have students from Big Sandy district high school.The school holds a record in athletics that might well be envied by any school In the state. Twice have its students won state* championships In bask etna 11. as wen as being run* nert, up oti one other occasion. In 191$ and again In 120 the team brought home the championship cup from the Buckhannon tournament. In 11)22 Clenctenin lost the state championship by beirg defeated by Buckhannon high school in the final game. John A. Young has the honor of taking the team to Buckhannon and winning the first state championship for the school. A great deal of credit goes to Carl Andrew's for the 3ater successes of the teams.One© again the school needed ad-, d iti or nl room. The result was an addition of another wing to the old building which more than doubled the size. Additional courses were offered and special work given In household arts and manual training. A gymnasium and an auditorium wus added to the building which placed the school on the same planeas most nfhpr r.P
