A correspondent of the Chronicle says that something' of the sort was expected by those who were acquainted with the family affairs, though it was not thought that it would be so bloody and horrible. The events leading to it had extended over a number of days. For some time a man and his wife had been living in tho house and doing the farm anti house work. These Mrs. Shcdd had driven away, having, it is said, thrown scalding water upon the man. Mr. Shedd’s son Nelson had thereupon arranged to work the farm and was preparing to move with his family into the house, on the morning of the tragedy. The old folks were to board with them.
